Buffalo Toro is an online slot by ELK Studios that was released back in 2022. The game is a continuation of the studio’s Toro series, as the titular character has travelled to the West to save the remaining rare Golden Buffalos.
The Buffalo Toro slot is set in the plains of North America, and its symbols include buffalo as wild icons, Matador respins, gold coin bonus icons, as well as buffalo, eagles, large cats, wolves, and bears. The game also has stylised playing card icons too.
The Buffalo Toro slot uses a 6×4 grid layout with 4,096 paylines, an RTP of 94% and high volatility, so you’re more likely to make large, infrequent wins when playing. The game requires a bet of between £0.20 and £50 per spin, with a chance to win up to 50,000x your bet. To make wins, you’ll need to match two or three or more identical symbols on a single spin and payline.
The highest-paying symbol in the Buffalo Toro slot is the buffalo, which pays £25 for landing twice, £50 for landing three times, £100 for landing four times, £150 for landing five times, and a maximum of £300 for landing six times. After this, the eagle and wild cat pay £150 each, the wolf and bear pay £120, the A and K icons pay £80, the Q and J symbols pay £60, and the 10 and 9 icons pay £40.
The Buffalo Toro slot comes with numerous special features. There are three types of wild symbols; ordinary wild icons, walking wild icons, and wild icons with multipliers of 2x or 3x. Ordinary and walking icons substitute for all symbols except bonus, super bonus, Matador, Toro, and multiplier wild icons. The walking wild generates respins as it moves leftwards.
Matadors are blocker symbols. When two or more Matador icons land, a Matador respin is triggered, where Matador symbols lock in position and remain sticky. Landing additional Matador symbols during the feature award additional respins.
Landing a Toro when Matadors are in view, including during Matador respins, triggers the Toro goes wild feature. In it, Toro moves vertically and horizontally to knock all Matadors off the reels, leaving wild icons behind. This continues until all Matadors have been defeated.
Meanwhile, landing three or more bonus symbols during normal gameplay triggers the bonus mode with between eight and 20 free spins depending on the number of triggering bonus symbols. Landing two or more bonus icons in the feature awards more spins and gold buffalo are collected during the bonus game. For every three gold buffalo collected, a high-value symbol is upgraded to buffalo symbols.
If the Toro or Matador respin features coincide with triggering the bonus game, the Toro and Matador features are played first. Meanwhile, landing one super bonus and two or more normal bonus symbols triggers the super bonus game.
Gold buffalo symbols are collected during the super bonus game too, and for every three collected, a high-value symbol is upgraded to buffalo symbols and the rampage reels feature is triggered. The rampage reels feature contains buffalo symbols only and can appear in the super bonus game. The maximum number of rampage reels that can appear in each free spin increases for every three gold buffalo symbols collected, starting with two and ending with five. The free spins mode ends when no free spins remain or when the game’s maximum win has been reached.
